LA Steaua

unto the star that just arose
there's such an endless way,
that many a thousand years goes
for light to reach our eye

perhaps it vanished long ago
within the distant blue
but only now her lonely glow
to our sight came through

the icon of the star that died
slowly the vault ascended
it was when to our sight denied
what we see now is ended

likewise when our life's desire,
vanished in the deep night,
the glow of love's quenched fire
pursues us in our plight.
